Do Whitestrips Work?

Tooth Whitening Fort Worth If you have visited the toothpaste aisle at your Fort Worth Wal-Mart, you have probably noticed dozens of products that claim to whiten your teeth. A few years ago, the only over-the-counter tooth whitening options in Fort Worth were whitening toothpastes and Crest Whitestrips. Now there is a wide variety of products at every drugstore counter in the Fort Worth area.

Whitening Rinses
Whitening rinses are similar to mouthwashes. They kill bacteria, freshen breath and may help remove plaque. Whitening rinses, however, contain tooth-whitening ingredients not found in mouthwashes. Manufacturers advise taking a mouthful of the rinse and letting it slosh around on your teeth for one minute twice a day. Though this method is simple, many users never notice a lightening of their teeth. This is probably because the rinse does not touch your teeth long enough to truly whiten them.

Whitening Strips
The whitening strips you can buy in Fort Worth grocery stores have a couple of drawbacks. Though they contain a bleaching agent, it is much less potent than those used in general dentistry offices. Another problem is that they do not whiten between teeth because the strips only touch the front surface. Though it is possible to remove stains, it can take months to see any whitening. By that point, you have probably spent more money than you would have if you’d have chosen the professional system at your Fort Worth tooth whitening cosmetic dental clinic.

Teeth Whitening Gels
Whitening gels are painted onto teeth with a small brush. One problem with whitening gels is that they only stick to dry teeth. If any saliva gets on the teeth during treatment, the gel is more likely to slide off.

If you are serious about dramatically whitening your teeth, the safest, quickest, and most affordable system is at your Fort Worth dental office.

Tooth Whitening Dentistry In Fort Worth

Tooth whitening has really taken off in Fort Worth. It has become a popular dental procedure and can provide excellent results if done properly.

There are a lot of options when it comes to tooth whitening. You can choose from a selection of over-the-counter options that you can get at your local pharmacy, or can go to a professional to get a complete tooth bleaching solution.

It is a good idea to consult with your dentist before a tooth whitening, regardless of whether you choose to use an over-the-counter product. Your dentist will be able to help you understand the results you can expect, and can help recommend a product that will work for you.

There are many variables when it comes to tooth whitening. The color of your teeth at the beginning of your treatment will make a difference for your ending result. Different tooth whitening treatments will each produce a different result. Your Fort Worth cosmetic dentist has experience with tooth coloration and the types of treatments available.

In many cases, your Fort Worth general dentist will be able to provide you with a tooth whitening solution that you can take home with you. In some cases, your dentist may recommend a professional treatment that is done at the dentist’s office.

Professional tooth whitening can produce dramatic results in a single treatment, and is often done over a few treatments.

Tooth whitening is less expensive than it was in the earlier days of tooth whitening technology. Today, tooth whitening treatments are very affordable, and don’t take the time they used to.

If you are interested in a tooth whitening consultation in the Fort Worth area, please call Mitch Conditt DDS and make an appointment to see me. I will be happy to give you a check up, assess your tooth color, and recommend tooth whitening treatments that may be right for you.

10 Teeth Whitening Tips for the Fall

The fall season provides plenty of opportunities for teeth to lose even more of their natural whiteness. Halloween candy, Thanksgiving cuisine and social gatherings with glasses of wine can all lead to staining and yellowing that can cause you to think twice about smiling in public. Fortunately, there are many ways to keep your smile gleaming as we head toward winter. In fact, here are 10 of them.

1. Fill up on water
Rinse your teeth and prevent staining fluids from coating your teeth by drinking water throughout your day. Make sure to drink water especially during and after meals.

2. Don’t fill up on tooth-staining beverages
Coffee, cola drinks, wine (white and red) and black tea can all stain your teeth. Minimize your intake of these beverages to prevent staining. You should also alternate sips of water with sips of tooth-staining drinks, and brush your teeth soon after drinking.

3. Choose foods that whiten teeth naturally
Eat your way to whiter teeth by choosing raw fruits and vegetables that scrub your teeth while you eat or make your mouth produce more saliva. These beneficial foods include cauliflower, carrots, strawberries, apples, celery, oranges, pineapple and pear.

4. Avoid tobacco use

Teeth often take on an unhealthy yellow color after long-term tobacco use. Consider tobacco’s effects on your body and teeth before smoking or chewing.

5. Drink through a straw
Reduce the time a beverage has to stain your teeth by drinking through a straw, which forces beverages to flow away from your teeth as they head toward your throat.

6. Use whitening toothpastes
Many whitening toothpastes remove plaque and stains from your teeth through friction. Your teeth can appear brighter as these stains are gradually removed. You might want to solicit recommendations about whitening toothpastes from your dentist.

7. Ask your dentist about whitening products
If you use certain whitening products, you can potentially brighten your teeth. Some whitening products are more effective than others, and some can actually harm your teeth because they are harsh on tooth enamel, so you should consult with your dentist for a professional opinion.

8. Use an electric toothbrush
Many dentists recommend that their patients use electric toothbrushes because they have been shown to eliminate more plaque than manual toothbrushes. The pulsating bristles dislodge plaque quickly and reach areas that are harder to hit with manual brushes, which offers better cavity and gingivitis protection.

9. Floss and brush on a regular basis
Brushing and flossing are two time-tested methods that remove plaque buildup that discolors your teeth. Brush your teeth at least twice a day after you eat – once in the morning and once before you go to sleep.

10. Visit your dentist regularly
Regular visits to the dentist will keep your teeth free of plaque. In addition to removing the plaque from your teeth with thorough cleanings, your dentist can discuss the latest and greatest teeth-whitening options with you.

Use some or all of the above teeth-whitening methods and your smile will glow brightly through fall and into the winter season.

Affordable Teeth Whitening?

Affordable Fort Worth Tooth Whitening If you are like most Aledo web users, you have probably seen the multitude of ads for ‘free teeth whitening kits’.

Some show a ‘real Weatherford mom’ who discovered a ‘tooth whitening secret’. Others assure you that their system is the one that ‘Aledo dentists don’t want you to know about’. Many contain a link to a page that contains a convincing tooth whitening testimonial. They bolster their legitimacy by aligning themselves with respected companies such as CNN, USA Today and Forbes.

Unfortunately, most of these are rip-offs. In a recent article, the Better Business Bureau explains the scam:

The countless Web sites for various tooth whitening products claim to offer a no-risk, money back guarantee, free trial of the product. To sign up, customers must provide a credit or debit card number to cover shipping. Complainants to BBB state that they are billed before their trial ends and continue to be billed after they have told the company they want to cancel.

Complainants also may find mystery charges for other companies and services that they didn’t realize they were signing up for with their ‘free’ trial.

The BBB has received complaints about the following company/product names:

  • Dazzle White
  • White Smile
  • Teeth Smile
  • Dazzle Smile
  • Ivory White
  • Max White
  • My Whitening
  • Gleaming White Smile
  • Advanced Wellness Research

Don’t trust your smile to an internet scammer. Your Aledo tooth whitening dental office is the only place for safe teeth bleaching. You don’t want to take a chance with your credit card number or your tooth enamel! Call us at Mitch Conditt DDS for advanced cosmetic dentistry and worry-free tooth whitening. Which Tooth Whitener Works Best in Fort Worth?

Dazzling White Teeth in Fort Worth What is the best professional tooth whitening system to use in Fort Worth?

There are two types of dentist-supervised tooth whitening systems available in Fort Worth. In order to determine the best choice for your teeth, schedule, and budget, you need to understand the differences in the systems.

Both systems use a bleaching agent containing peroxide. Fort Worth dentists who offer professional in-office teeth bleaching use a whitening gel with a high concentration of peroxide. Some in-office tooth whitening systems use a light that causes the tooth bleaching agent to work faster. There are different types of lights including halogen, plasma arc, metal halide and laser; but they all work the same way. When the light is shined at teeth on which the whitening gel is applied, it causes the peroxide to break down into free radicals, which are active oxygen molecules. This process naturally occurs without the light, but the light makes it happen faster. That is why you can get whiter teeth in just one hour.

Most Fort Worth cosmetic dentistry practices also offer take home tooth whitening systems. Although these procedures take a bit longer to work, they achieve the same dramatic results. For many clients, this is the most affordable teeth whitening system.

At Mitch Conditt DDS, we offer safe and effective teeth bleaching. Our Fort Worth cosmetic dentistry patients can’t believe how great their teeth look when they remove the stains and restore the brightness. If you would like to learn why our system is superior, schedule a consultation by calling our office at 817-737-5155.  We provide service to patients in the Fort Worth, Aledo, Parker County, and Weatherford areas.
