Dental Checkups and Cleaning in Fort Worth, TX
The American Dental Association recommends that patients of all ages should see their dentist routinely for checkups and/or dental hygiene appointments. When you come in for a checkup with us, we will inspect your soft tissues for oral cancer, periodontal disease (gum disease), and other problems. Dr. Kelly Blair will also look at each tooth to assess problems such as decay, cracks, or old dental work that needs to be replaced. We will be happy to replace metal fillings, inlays, onlays, and dental crowns with tooth-colored alternatives.
During your dental hygiene appointment, our gentle hygienist will inspect your gums for periodontal (gum) disease. Our hygienist is specially trained to detect, deter, and treat gum disease. We prefer to help you maintain optimal dental health so that you never have to worry about this potentially damaging condition. However, if you develop periodontal problems, we're here to help you as well.
With routine checkups and dental hygiene appointments, we can often reduce your potential for developing large dental problems. For instance, if left untreated, a small cavity can grow to destroy an entire tooth and spread to surrounding teeth. Similarly, a cracked tooth can cause pain or break off and create additional problems. Furthermore, advanced gum disease is the primary cause of tooth loss for American adults, and oral cancer causes more than 7,500 deaths each year. Caught and treated early, these diseases can be easily controlled.
Children as young as two should visit the dentist, and by age four or five, they should be attending regular checkups. Adult patients, however, should have regular checkups and hygiene visits every three to six months as recommended by their dentist or hygienist.
Dr. Kelly Blair can help you achieve and maintain optimum dental health. Practicing good dental hygiene at home and then coming to see us for regular checkups and dental hygiene appointments will help prevent gum disease and result in a clean bill of dental health.
