Humana Dental Insurance

Getting the Most Out of Your Humana Benefits

A female patient and her dentist

What do you know about preventive care? Probably that it is key to maintaining good oral health, right? Apart from brushing, flossing, and rinsing on a daily basis, you know that you also need to keep your regularly scheduled dental appointments with Dr. Blair. Thorough checkups and cleanings will ensure your mouth stays healthy and disease-free, all of which will save you money in the long run. However, even when you’re on top of your oral hygiene, accidents and problems can occur without any recognizable symptoms. For many patients, this can not only be devastating to their self-esteem and overall appearance, but it can also be problematic when it comes to finding a way to pay. Should this happen, it’s important your Humana dental insurance be there to cover you.

Humana Coverage Availability & Fees

With Humana dental coverage, your plan will most likely be different from your colleague or neighbor, but most of the basic coverage remains the same.

Depending on your plan, you can expect your insurance to cover:

  • 80-100% preventive dental care (i.e. cleanings, checkups, X-rays)
  • 70-80% minor restorative treatment (i.e. tooth-colored fillings)
  • 50-70% major restorative treatment (i.e. tooth replacement)

The way Humana dental coverage works is that you pay a monthly plan premium. In return, you will receive access to your wide range of benefits, as well as an agreement that your insurance company will pay a portion of any dental work you have completed.

It is most beneficial to see an in-network provider like Dr. Blair simply because she has already negotiated services and cost with the insurance company. You can feel confident about receiving treatment by an in-network provider because you’ll be receiving the lowest out of pocket cost each time. However, this is not to say that you cannot see an out of network provider. The only difference is that you will be expected to pay the difference, as well as the out of pocket percentage of the cost of your treatment.

Another important aspect of any dental insurance policy is the annual maximum. Should you need a procedure or treatment that goes above the allotted maximum your insurance coverage allows, we will work with you to split your treatments over an extended period of time so that you can get the most from your benefits.
